Integrating Swiss Ball Training into your surf school and surf club

Swiss ball training has been around for many years, and surfers are using there benefits more and more around the world to improve their performance in the water.

The uses run far and wide, from core strength training to surfing flexibility sessions, many surfers use them on a regular basis to boost their surfing performance.

Why a ball?

It is the unstable nature of the ball that makes it unique and a great bit of kit for surfers. The advantage of its instability is that it challenges the following skills necessary for advancement in an exercise program and maintenance of a healthy spine;

Improving young surfers strength and core knowledge

If you run a surf club either week end or after school then the chances are you will have a wide selection of young surfers all wishing to be the next big thing, surfing strength and conditioning should start from a you age and advance with growth and development.

There is a wide range of training type that can be done with the young surfer that will improve performance, Swiss Ball training is a great place to start and can be integrated into the surf club set up very easily, with relativity low costing kit.

A primary benefit of exercising with a Swiss ball as opposed to exercising directly on a hard flat surface is that the body responds to the instability of the ball to remain balanced, engaging many more muscles to do so. Those muscles become stronger over time to keep balance. Most frequently, the core body muscles, the abdominal muscles and back muscles are the focus of exercise ball fitness programs, both highly important areas to work on and keep strong for surfing fitness.

 

 

 Integrate Swiss Ball Training into your surf School

 Once a surf coach has a basic knowledge and understanding of Core strength training then it is very simple to add this to a surf lesson package.

All ages can benefit for core training, the exercises are many and can add value to a surfing lesson package!
